This album is the result of years of writing and playing to small crowds in coffeehouses, open-air farmers’ markets where I was paid in veggies, and dusty roads all over the country. These songs were hard to write and even harder to record – it took a lot of living to give these songs the edge they have in this album. Recorded in a small home-built studio over 2 3-hour blocks of recording time, this represents the culmination of my sad bastard weary drifter music phase. Paying homage to such figures as Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, Nick Drake and others of their ilk, I’ve sought to tell my story and that of others. Each song has been chosen for its meaning to me or to those who’ve seen me perform over the years, and this is just as much a record of close friendships, loss and healing as it is of whiskey death and heartache. I hope you dig it, folks; because it would not happen were it not for you.
